GINGIVECTOMY

It’s the surgical removal of gum tissue. This is necessary to remove extra gum tissue for cosmetic reasons, such as to modify a smile. Your dentist may recommend this procedure to prevent future gum damage as well as give your dentist easier access to the teeth for cleaning.

APICEPTOMY

Consists of the removal of a lesion that forms at the apex (root) when the bacterial infection is more resistant and does not respond to the treatment of root canal.

CORTICOTOMY

It´s a surgical technique to accelerate orthodontic treatment. Where a cut or perforation is undertaken in the cortical portion of the bone (jaw).

CROWN LENGTHENING

Crown lengthening reduces gum tissue and shaves down bone when necessary so more of the tooth is above the gum's surface. A properly fitted crown allows for better oral hygiene and comfort. Some people seek crown lengthening to alter a “gummy smile,” in which the gums are visible above the teeth when smiling.
